Katni Stone and Marble Craft “ADHARSHILA” Festival

ADHARSHILA – Katni Stone Art Festival which is Madhya Pradesh’s first Stone Art Festival was organised in District Katni from November 9-28 as an occasion to celebrate Katni Stone, which has been chosen as Katni’s One District One Product (ODOP) Join us in celebrating Katni Stone under One District One Product (ODOP). Adharshila was the first of its kind festival in all of India, and saw Artists coming in from across the Country who spend 20 days in the city and created artworks using Katni’s marble and sandstone at a studio created exclusively for this purpose.
It was an opportunity for sculptors from across India who carved and presented their creations on sandstone and marble.
Creations from the festival was placed for an exhibition on the closing day of ADHARSHILA.
Adharshila has provided beautiful opportunities to stone and marble craftsmen. In this, Rock Arts has been made on sand stone and marble by the craftsmen.
The following facilities have been provided to the craftsmen –
- Transport fare for “ADHARSHILA” to the craftsman and one of his/her assistant.
- Arrangement for their accommodation and food during Stone Festival.
- Rs. 40000 /- to the craftsman and Rs. 20000 /- to his or her assistant as honorarium at the prevailing rate.
- Special tools has been provided on the request of the Craftsman.
- Provision of tents, lights, water and security at the work place was made.
- Prizes were awarded to the best work by the prescribed committee.
- Exhibition of Artifacts on the last day of “ADHARSHILA” Stone Festival was done.
