Vijaynath Dham Temple is an example of communal unity
Vijaynath Dham of Barhi, one of the religious tourist spots of the district, is an example of communal unity. There is 17 acres of land adjacent to the temple. A Muslim family of Barhi had donated the land to the temple. There are different legends about this 120-year-old place. It is said that the temple was built by Thanedaar Durga Prasad Pandey, posted in Barhi during the British rule. It is said that Lord Bholenath appeared in his dream and informed him about the Shivling being buried under the ground near the temple site. When Thanedaar Pandey got the site excavated with the help of local people, a Shivling appeared with Jalhari under a tree near the drain at a distance from the temple. After which the Shivling was consecrated. Barhi resident Mohammed Ilahi Baksh had donated his 17 acres of land for the temple. People say that the Shivling that came out of the ground was small, but its size is increasing every year. Every Monday, a special Shringar Aarti of the Lord is performed at Vijaynath Dham Temple. A Shiva procession is taken out on Mahashivratri.
