Maa Jalpa appeared from a bamboo forest
The Maa Jalpa Devi temple built in the middle of the city has been the center of people’s faith for years. People from all over the state come here with their families to fulfill their wishes. It is said that where the idol of Maa appeared, there was a dense bamboo forest long ago and the rock of the mother appeared from the bamboo forest. Along with the idol of Maa Jalpa, 50 years ago, the committee had brought the idols of Maa Jalpa, Kalka, Sharda from Jaipur and installed them, and apart from that, 64 Yoginis have been installed. Apart from Navratri, there is a continuous flow of devotees here throughout the year. According to the elders, about 250 years ago, Biharilal Panda suddenly came to Katni from his home from a small village in Rewa district. During that time, there used to be a bamboo forest in Jalpa ward. It is said that Maa had called him. After which, when he started cleaning the place of the present temple in the forest, he found the idol of Maa Jalpa in the form of a rock. Whose Pran Pratishtha was done and initially Mata Rani was installed in a small Madhiya. People’s faith in the temple increased and today people from many districts of the state visit the temple.
